Austin Sunshine Camps works to break the cycle of poverty among high potential, low income youth by promoting physical health, fostering life skills, raising high school completion rates and increasing college readiness. Since our inception in 1928, we have served over 48,000 low income youth at NO COST to the participants or their families. Each year, we serve 850 Central Texas youth. Our Sunrise Leadership Programs serve middle and high school students and have a strong focus on academic success. Since 2001, all Leadership participants have earned a high school diploma and more than half are enrolled in AP classes. The Sunrise Challenge Program is preparatory development for 6-8th grade students. The goals of this program are to prepare students for the demanding academic and social situations of high school and entrance into the Sunrise Leadership Programs.
