Important note on shopping carts and credit for your organization:

Most vendors keep track of items being held in a shopping cart.  They each have an aging process to hold data based on when and how an item is placed in a shopping cart.  As an example, Amazon holds cart data for 90 days.  This means that items placed in your cart prior to visiting Give as you Get will not credit your organization.  Deleting items from your cart, going to Give as you Get, and then placing those same items back in your cart will also not credit your organization, as Amazon will remember what you had in your cart previously for up to 90 days.  However, items placed in your cart for the first time after going through Give as you Get will be held to credit your organization as long as you purchase those items within 90 days.


Q – How does it work?

A - giveasyouget has contracted with some of the most popular shopping sites. When you shop their sites throughgiveasyouget, we receive a payment similar to an advertising fee. We then send at least 50% of that payment to your organization.


Q – Is giveasyouget safe to buy through?

A - As you’ll find out, the shopping sites are your regular shopping sites. For example; if you have an Amazon account and go to Amazon.com through the giveasyouget link, you’ll be welcomed as normal and see your shopping cart. You can buy things as you normally would using the systems you already trust.


Q – How does my nonprofit get paid?

A - giveasyouget receives payments from the shopping sites approximately 60 days after the purchase is made. We, in turn, send payments to the nonprofits.


Q How often does my nonprofit get paid?

A - We’ve worked with numerous nonprofits and they would prefer to receive payments on a quarterly basis. It’s easier for their bookkeeping.


Q – How do I know my nonprofit is getting paid?

A - You can see how much your nonprofit is receiving through giveasyouget on the “organizations” page.


Q – How much will my nonprofit get from my purchase?

A - The payment percentage varies based on the store, the item, and the price. Payments are normally 1-4%. But remember, that’s 1-4% more than they were getting before.  Vendors that credit gift cards will show (GC) in their collection amount


Q – I made a purchase but didn’t see the “amount given” increase.

A - Most of our vendors don’t credit the accounts until the item is shipped.  There can be a delay of a week or more before the “amount given” will be updated.


Q – How can I get my organization signed up?

A - please send us an email at info@giveasyouget.com or click the “recommend an organization” link


Q – How do I know that my organization is being credited with the purchase.

A - Once you’re on an organizations page, all purchases will credit that organization.  If you look at more shops, you’re still aligned with that organization.  The only way to change organizations is by picking a new one.

Q Can I take a deduction on my taxes for purchases I make through your system?

A - The payments we send to the nonprofits are not currently eligible for a tax writeoff as you are receiving the full value of items you purchase.


Q – Can I split my purchases between nonprofits?

A - You have the opportunity to change your selected nonprofit every time you enter giveasyouget.


Q – Do I need to sign up or give you personal information?

A - We request that you sign up so we can keep you updated on site improvements, new shopping partners and new organizations. You are not required to sign up to use giveasyouget. We only ask for minimal tracking information such as name and email. We will not ask you for credit card or any bank information.


Q – Why should I take the time (extra clicks) to buy through giveasyouget.com?

A - We think you’ll agree that a couple extra clicks are well worth it since your organization benefits from every purchase you make!


Q – Will I get a confirmation of my purchase and the “amount given”

A – Give as you Get operates on the principle of community giving. We do not track the individual amounts given but we track by each nonprofit. Vendors often take 2-3 days to complete transactions and report on the amounts given. Plus, greater volumes with some vendors can increase the amount given over a certain time period.


Q – Do all vendors pay at the time of purchase?

A – Most vendors pay at the time of purchase, but there are a few exceptions, such as Expedia and other travel related sites that pay when the trip is completed.


Q – Do all vendors pay a percentage of the purchase price?

A – Most vendors pay a percentage of the purchase price but there are a few that pay a set amount per transaction.
